The Manufacturing Alliance of Hillsborough County was established to provide operational support services for the delivery of manufacturing related workforce training initiatives for high school students, postsecondary students, and graduates and residents in Hillsborough County; with special emphasis on the recruitment of minorities, women, and veterans.

These workforce training initiatives seek to address the identified manufacturing skills gap in Hillsborough County by raising the interest and awareness of manufacturing opportunities, as well as preparing students for careers in manufacturing.

As part of this agreement, funds were granted to enhance the Engineering program at Middleton High School, the Welding Technologies program at Hillsborough, Jefferson, and Tampa Bay Technical High Schools, the Industrial Machinery Maintenance and Repair program at Brewster Technical College, and the Machining Technology program at Armwood High School.
