Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Eckerd College Leadership Development Institute--Phase 3 to Support the Leadership Development of the 30 POWER 3 Teacher Leaders (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Leadership Development Institute (LDI) at Eckerd College has provided contemporary, high-quality, assessment based leadership programs to help individuals, teams and organizations reach their leadership potential.  The LDI has created a School Leadership Institute specifically designed to maximize the leadership skills of the POWER 3 Teacher Leaders.

Through participation in Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the School Leadership Institute, Teacher Leaders gained valuable skills and strategies, which they brought back and implemented at their school sites.  The School Leadership Institute has provided Teacher Leaders with the skill set to work with diverse faculties and build relationships to promote environments of continuous professional learning.

Through participation in Phase 3 of the School Leadership Institute, POWER 3 Teacher Leaders will receive leadership training and development in the following areas:

  • Assessing, understanding, and improving current leadership strengths and development
  • Improving the ability to give and receive constructive, non-evaluative feedback
  • Coaching for results and teacher development
  • Assessing mindsets and guide shifts to growth mindset
  • Creating a climate of trust, respect, and openness in diverse audiences
  • Time and stress management
  • Improving conflict resolution and creative problem solving skills
  • Understanding and valuing differences in approaching and managing change
  • Develop a school action plan for increased effectiveness
  • Relationship and climate building
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $46,350.00 will be available in the Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) 4 Grant. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3005. As of Friday, April 29, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $194,823.31. Funding for this project is provided by the TIF 4 Grant, which annually allots for external leadership and coaching support for the 30 Teacher Leaders in Power 3 schools.
EVALUATION
The Power 3 Program will be evaluated in its entirety to include the Leadership Institute's impact on Teacher Leader skills and effectiveness.  The program is evaluated by TIF 4 Administrators, Professional Development Supervisor, and an external evaluator.
