Approve Agreements for Educational Services with Building Trades Apprenticeship/Preapprenticeship Committees, Erwin Technical College, 2016/2017 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the Agreements for Educational Services to continue to provide training for 16 building trades apprenticeship committees and two preapprenticeship committees.  For more than 24 years, the district has had active educational agreements with the building trades apprenticeship committees for adult job training programs.

The apprenticeship committees are compensated $0.95 per instructional hour for each registered apprentice. The contracted funds are used to cover instructor salaries/benefits; program promotion; instructional materials and supplies; equipment upgrade, replacement, and repair; and other supervisory and administrative costs to include, but not limited to, lease expenses for classroom facilities and equipment, travel, mileage, conferences, registrations, and professional meetings.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $2,031,884.70 will be available in the Workforce Education budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 9050. As of Tuesday, May 31, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $565,480.33. The apprenticeship training programs generate Workforce Education funds that cover all district direct and indirect expenses for the programs.
EVALUATION
The quality of the programs are evaluated annually for compliance with the Florida Department of Education and the Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship Training. Student achievement is evaluated by the number of Occupational Completion Points (OCPs) earned. During the 2015/2016 school year, 1,228 apprentices attended classes; of those students, 850 OCPs were earned.
