Approve the Agreement with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Educational services are provided to students in various Juvenile Justice programs located throughout Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS).  Florida Law (F.S. 1003.52) requires this agreement.  It outlines the various roles and responsibilities of HCPS and the Department of Juvenile Justice and is designated to facilitate the effective and efficient delivery of services for children and youth served in Department of Juvenile Justice settings.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
This agreement ensures that students receiving educational services in Juvenile Justice programs will receive Extended Year and Exceptional Student Education funding under the Florida Education Finance Program.  The programs will be financed by FTE funds, which amount to approximately $1,714,150.  This item is included in the General Fund budget for the 2016/2017 fiscal year.
EVALUATION
Each Juvenile Justice Education Program is evaluated annually through a quality assurance review conducted by the Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program.  These reviews will be completed by June 30, 2017.
