Approve Agreements for Educational Services with Building Trades Apprenticeship/Preapprenticeship Committees at Erwin Technical College for the 2017/2018 Fiscal Year (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
We request approval of the Agreements for Educational Services to continue to provide training for 20 building trades apprenticeship committees and two preapprenticeship committees. For more than 25 years, the district has had active educational agreements with the building trades apprenticeship committees for adult job training programs. The apprenticeship committees are compensated $0.95 per instructional hour for each registered apprentice. The contracted funds are used to cover instructor salaries/benefits, program promotion, instructional materials and supplies, equipment upgrade replacement and repair, and other supervisory and administrative costs to include, but not limited to, lease expenses for classroom facilities and equipment, travel, mileage, conferences, registrations, and professional meetings. |
|
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
Funds in the amount of $2,545,923.50 will be available in the Workforce Education budget. The apprenticeship training programs generate Workforce Education funds that cover all district direct and indirect expenses for the programs.
EVALUATION | |
The quality of the programs are evaluated annually for compliance with the Florida Department of Education and the Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship Training. Student achievement is evaluated by the number of Occupational Completion Points (OCPs) earned. As of Thursday, June 8, 2017, 1,489 apprentices attended classes, and of those students, 257 OCPs have been earned.
