Hillsborough County Public Schools Acknowledges the Partnership with the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and the Investments in Programs and Services for Families in Hillsborough County Public Schools (Outreach and School Improvement)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Children’s Board (CB) invests in programs and services that ensures families are supported, and children are healthy and safe, developmentally on track, and ready to learn and succeed.

The CB releases funding opportunities for family services through a transparent Request for Proposals (RFP) process. The CB invests in services that demonstrate a measurable impact to create and sustain thoughtful partnerships that make a positive impact in communities throughout the county. A CB contract manager is assigned to provide oversight, support and accountability of all funded programs.

The following agencies have been recommended for funding in 2018 through the Leading and Uniting RFP and propose to serve the following communities with a focus in area public schools:
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay Inc., Plant City, Town N Country, & South County
  • Corporation to Development Communities of Tampa, Inc., Riverview
  • Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, Inc., Gibsonton, Palm River, & Riverview
  • Greater Palm River Point, CDC, Palm River & Clair Mel
  • Hispanic Services Council, Inc., Palm River, West Tampa, University, Ruskin, & Wimauma
  • Parents and Children Advance Together (PCAT), Ruskin & Wimauma
  • Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc., Egypt Lake
  • Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, Inc., Sulphur Springs
  • Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, Inc., Wimauma & Plant City
  • Frameworks of Tampa Bay, Inc., Jackson Heights
  • Tampa Bay Academy of Hope, Tampa
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Engage and communicate with families and stakeholders • Establish a strong foundation of financial stewardship
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
The CB's financial impact is more than $2.8 million for out-of-school time programming.  This does not include renewed investment grants, such as SEEDS, which provides countywide support and case management through schools with a budget of $2.3 million.  In addition, the Administrative Service Organization (ASO) allows school social workers to access flexible funds to support goals for elementary school age children.  Services are being provided to families at no cost since the CB awarded agencies who will be completing school facility usage agreements to cover applicable costs associated with facility usage.
EVALUATION
Parent consent, data, and support documentation is provided to the CB according to the contracted terms and complies with district policies; each program provider is required to meet the objectives and outcomes that lead to student success.
