Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (Business Services Division)
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the "School District of Hillsborough County" by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for fiscal year 2016. 

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of tribute in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government agency and its management.  This is the 16th consecutive year that our district has received this prestigious award.  In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, the district must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized CAFR.  This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.  A Certificate of Achievement is valid for a period of one year only.  Upon completion, we will submit our current CAFR to GFOA to determine its eligibility for another certificate.

The GFOA established this program in 1945 to encourage state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.
