Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (Business Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting has been awarded to the "School District of Hillsborough County" by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its popular annual financial report (PAFR) for fiscal year 2017. The GFOA established the PAFR awards program in 1991 to encourage and assist state and local governments to extract information from their comprehensive annual financial report and produce high quality popular annual financial reports designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public without a background in public finance. This is the first year that our district has received this award.  To our knowledge, we are the first school district in the state of Florida to receive this award.

This agenda item has no financial impact on the district.
EVALUATION
The GFOA established this award program to encourage state and local governments to further enhance transparency by producing a report that is more useful to citizens.
