Recognition of Hillsborough County Public Schools and MacDill Air Force Base Awarded the 2018 Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award (Deputy Superintendent)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Military Child Education Coalition awarded Hillsborough County Public Schools and MacDill Air Force Base with the 2018 Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award at their annual training conference in Washington, DC. The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) Board of Directors established the Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award at its annual conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in July 2004. In recognizing Lieutenant General (Ret) H.G. “Pete” Taylor’s dedication and work toward assisting military children, this award recognizes successful partnerships and projects that ultimately benefit military-connected children.  During his tenure as chairman of the MCEC, Pete Taylor played an important role in the establishment of partnerships between military installations and school districts serving military-connected children.  This award is given in two areas: K-12 and higher education.  Given annually, the K-12 award may represent a single project in which a military installation and one or more school districts participated, or it may be a summation of the entire program between a military installation and the school districts serving an installation.  The higher education award highlights and encourages the outstanding teacher preparation programs that include critical information and experience focusing on military-connected children. On July 24, 2018, at the annual MCEC National Training Seminar, in Washington, DC, Hillsborough County Public Schools and MacDill Air Force Base were awarded the 2018 Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award.
