Approve Extending the License Agreement with myON by Renaissance Learning, Inc. to Provide myON Reader to all Prekindergarten - Grade 12 Students in Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On January 24, 2012, the Board approved the community-based reading initiative, Read On myON, between HCPS, the Board of County Commissioners Head Start, Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay, Children's Board of Hillsborough County, Early Learning Coalition, Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative, Tampa Housing Authority, Tampa Metropolitan YMCA, and United Way Suncoast. This initiative provides all Prekindergarten - Grade 12 students of Hillsborough County with access to myON Reader from myON by Renaissance.  myON Reader is a comprehensive, personalized reading environment that enables children and students to access the largest integrated, interactive, and engaging library of digital books at home, school, public libraries, community centers, or anywhere they have access to the Internet.  myON by Renaissance will continue to provide myON Reader subscription licenses and a full-time project manager who will manage and support the program to ensure consistency in meeting the District and Children’s Board goals for the project.  The term of this agreement ends January 29, 2020.  The Superintendent may renew this agreement for three one-year renewal periods per the terms of the specifications. This agreement may be terminated with or without cause upon a 30-day written notice.  

In accordance with the Florida Department of Education Purchasing Policies, 6A-1.012(11), the requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for commodities or contractual services from three or more sources is hereby waived as authorized by section 1010.04(4)(a), F.S., for the purchase by district school boards of educational services and any type of copyrighted materials including, without limitation, educational tests, textbooks, printed instructional materials, computer software, films, filmstrips, videotapes, digital versatile discs, disc or tape recordings, digital recordings, or similar audio-visual materials, and for library and reference books, and printed library cards where such materials are purchased directly from the producer or publisher, or the owner of the copyright.
