Approve the 2019 Extended School Year (ESY) Program (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The 2019 ESY Program is designed to provide both academic and enrichment opportunities that are responsive to the needs of students and aligned with the Student Progression Plan.  The ESY Committee, with representation from each division, convenes annually and is responsible for the program development and the coordination of resources. 

The 2019 ESY Program Handbook will be posted on the district website and is used as a reference and communication tool for all stakeholders, including parents.  Schools will notify individual students and/or parents when a specific ESY program is recommended.  Broader communication for enrichment programs is delivered through school newsletters, websites, Peachjar, and ParentLink.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The cost of the 2019 ESY Program is approximately $9,550,000 and will include funds from Supplemental Academic Instruction, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Title I-Migrant, Title III-English Language Acquisition, student fees, general fund, and various grants from both the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 school years.  Expenses incurred in June 2019 will be funded through the 2018/2019 budgets.  Expenses incurred in July and August 2019 will be funded through the 2019/2020 budgets.
EVALUATION
An annual program review for the 2019 ESY Program will include one or more of the following:  reports of enrollment and attendance, course completion data, classroom visits, and student assessment data.  See attachment for the review of the 2018 ESY Program.
