SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Lenovo Laptop Lease Buyout Between Lenovo Financial Services and Hillsborough County Public Schools Out-of-School Time Program (HOST) for the Purchase of Student Laptops (Academic Support and Federal Programs)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On September 29, 2015, the Board approved the master lease agreement with Lenovo Financial Services for the lease of Lenovo Think Pad 11e student laptops for use by the HOST Program. In support of the 2015 digital classroom initiative, the HOST program worked closely with the Information and Technology (IT) and Business Divisions to explore an efficient and affordable means for students to have access to a device that could be shared during the school day and in the after school program.  The three year lease has ended and after careful consideration and advice from the IT Division, the HOST program is seeking permission to purchase the laptops and partner with Achievement Schools.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $138,890.95 will be available in the HOST budget for the purchase of laptops. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to the HOST program is 4302. If applicable, note that Personal Property Tax and Excess Usage fees will be invoiced at a later date.
EVALUATION
HOST has determined to purchase the laptops based on fair market value, keeping technology in the hands of students. An average usage of 900 laptops over 3 years was 6.3 hours a day per device. A total of 897 devices in working condition are ready to return to schools.
