SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with National Council for Behavioral Health for the Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification Training (Academic Support and Federal Programs)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Youth Mental Health Awareness and Training (YMHAT) is a new discretionary project, which was developed as a result of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act s.1012.584, F.S.  Pursuant to the Safety Act, school safety specialists shall ensure that all school personnel within their school districts receive youth mental health awareness and assistance training.  The Florida Department of Education has selected the National Council for Behavioral Health as the authority on youth mental health awareness and assistance training. Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is the selected standardized training.  The National Council for Behavioral Health will facilitate all standardized instructor certification trainings in YMHFA.  Hillsborough County Public Schools will determine qualified staff to become YMHFA instructors who will then conduct YMHFA courses for elementary, middle, and high school staff.   The National Council for Behavioral Health will provide one 3-day YMHFA Certification Training beginning April 9, 2019, and ending April 11, 2019.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Grant funds in the amount of $21,500 will be available in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget, YMHAT.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3520.
EVALUATION
After completion of the 3-day training, the number of individuals who successfully obtained the certification needed to become YMHFA trainers will be reviewed.
