Approve the Contract with PACE Center for Girls - Hillsborough (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
PACE Center for Girls provides a 230-day, non-residential Dropout Prevention Program for 75 at-risk girls, many of whom have been adjudicated delinquent by the courts and are under the supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice.  PACE provides the facility and all of the personnel for the educational program, with support and oversight by the district's Youth Services Program.  The district is required to pay private providers like PACE 90 percent of all full time equivalent revenue earned, and provide access to all applicable categorical funds.  Additional funds have been provided through Specific Appropriation 86 for a supplemental allocation for Juvenile Justice Education programs.

• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of approximately $452,267.10 will be available.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 4507.
EVALUATION
This program is evaluated annually by Youth Services Department staff based on a model developed by the Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program.  A review will be completed by June 30, 2020.
