Recognition of Schools and Individuals that Provided Preparing Students for Life and Black History Month, (Honoring African American Pioneers in the Arts and STEM) Exhibits at the 2019 Florida State Fair (Office of Diversity)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Over the last 39 years, in order to showcase Hillsborough County Public Schools, many individuals and schools have worked diligently to build outstanding exhibits at the Florida State Fair.  During the 2019 Florida State Fair, 13 schools, Middle School Education, and Career Technical Education displayed outstanding education exhibits emphasizing the theme of Preparing Students for Life.  For the fourth year at the Florida State Fair, exhibits and live performances were displayed as a tribute to Black History Month.  The theme for the 2019 Florida State Fair was Honoring African American Pioneers in the Arts and STEM. The exhibits were made possible through the efforts of the Preparing Students for Life and the Black History Committees, along with the efforts of the principals, sponsors, community members, students, and district departments.  The winners of the first, second, third place, and Best in Show/People's Choice were voted on by fair patrons.   Attached are the winners, as well as participants for Preparing Students for Life and the Black History exhibits.

Funds in the amount of $150.00 will be available in the Secondary Education Office. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 5409. As of Wednesday, March 27, 2019, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $8,107.37.
