SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Purchase of Dual Enrollment Instructional Materials for Hillsborough Community College, University of Florida, and University of South Florida for the 2019/2020 School Year (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County Public Schools purchases instructional materials for dual enrollment courses as defined in the parameters of the dual enrollment articulation agreement.  The college institutions determine which textbooks are to be purchased for each course.  Attached is a summary of dual enrollment textbook orders from fall 2015 to spring 2019.  In accordance with the Florida Department of Education Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(11)(b), the requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for commodities is waived as authorized by Section 1010.04(4)(a), F.S., for the purchase by district school boards of educational textbooks where such materials are purchased directly from a governmental agency or a recognized educational institution.

Funds in the amount of $950,000 will be available in the Instructional Materials Categorical budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 4509.  This cost is estimated based on projected enrollment and may fluctuate based on actual need.
EVALUATION
Per State Statute 1007.271, school districts are required to purchase the instructional materials for dual enrollment students.  High school guidance counselors and the dual enrollment contacts at the colleges determine student eligibility based on the approved articulation agreements.
