EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The purpose of Title II, Part A is to provide funds to local education agencies to (1) increase student achievement consistent with challenging state academic standards; (2) improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders; (3) increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools; and (4) provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders. According to grant parameters, private schools are entitled to an equitable share of Title II funds in order to achieve these goals. Catapult Learning will provide a two-day professional learning opportunity for private school teachers and leaders who work at Diocesan Schools within Hillsborough County. Teachers will attend a full day workshop of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) on June 3, 2019. This workshop is designed for schools that have begun to implement inquiry-based learning and are moving forward with their STEAM initiatives. Teachers will learn how to incorporate project-based learning strategies and challenge students to apply scientific principles to real-world problems. On June 4, 2019, participants will attend two-half day sessions: Effective Classroom Management and The Power of Praise in the Classroom. Effective Classroom Management will help teachers create an effective plan for classroom management that will set the stage for a successful year for all stakeholders. The Power of Praise in the Classroom training will provide teachers with several modes and formats for giving students feedback and review techniques for providing effective, actionable feedback to help students meet learning goals. |
