SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the First Amendment to the Tuition Discount Agreement Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NOVA Southeastern University (NOVA)  (Leadership, Professional Development, and School Transformation) (Revised Subject/Recommendations and Executive Summary)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
NOVA has been a partner with the district for many years.  As part of the Hillsborough Principal Pipeline, they participated in a Quality Measures Review process six years ago to ensure program quality.  Results of the review solidified the partnership.  The agreement MOU allows staff from Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) to receive a 20 percent discount on tuition rates for all Fischler College of Education programs.  As part of the agreement, Leadership, Professional Development, and School Transformation staff will share marketing materials with all HCPS staff as well as invite NOVA staff to attend recruitment events for future leaders.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Recruit, support, and retain a highly effective and diverse workforce
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
EVALUATION
NOVA has graduated several hundred educators from HCPS with master’s degrees in programs that include Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, Reading Education, and more.  Feedback from students participating in NOVA graduate programs is positive. Statements such as “relevant and practical” are often heard when discussing course content and professional learning experiences.  In the past six years, 85 NOVA Educational Leadership graduates have participated in HCPS Future Leaders Academy and 38 have been hired into assistant principal positions.  Of current sitting principals, approximately one-fourth have educational leadership degrees from NOVA.  They offer quality programs using blended models that meet the needs of educators wanting to further their education.
