Recognition of Hillsborough County Public Schools for Receiving the Healthy Schools Gold, Silver or Bronze Award (Academic Support and Federal Programs)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Healthy Schools Award is derived from The Florida Coordinated School Health Partnership in collaboration with Florida Action for Healthy Kids, Florida Association of District School Superintendents, and Florida Healthy Kids Corporation.  Schools were recognized based on results of self-assessments of sustainable infrastructure, policy, programs, and evidence based practices identified from national and state guidelines and Florida statutes in the areas of: School Health Services, Health and Physical Education, Nutrition Services and Education, Healthy School Environment: Safe and Supportive School Environment and Safe and Healthy Physical Environment, Employee Wellness, Counseling/Psycho-social and Social Services, and Family and Community Involvement.

Healthy Schools by level of distinction are as follows:
  • GOLD:  Alexander, Bryant, Chiles, Hunter's Green, Lincoln, Lithia Springs, Mabry, Mintz, Muller, Pinecrest, Summerfield Crossings, Symmes, and Tampa Heights Elementary Schools, Tinker K-8, Burns, Walker, and Young Middle Schools, and Lennard High School
  • SILVER: Anderson, Buckhorn, Clair Mel, Cork, Corr, Doby, Heritage, Jackson, Just, Kingswood, Lowry, Potter, Pride, Seffner, Sessums, Shore, Thonotosassa, Valrico, and Walden Lake Elementary Schools, Roland Park K-8, Marshall, Martinez, Turkey Creek, and Wilson Middle Schools, Hillsborough, Leto, and Steinbrenner High Schools
  • BRONZE: Apollo Beach, Chiaramonte, Deer Park, DeSoto, Edison, FishHawk Creek, Gorrie, Seminole, and Wimauma Elementary Schools, Adams, Buchanan, Greco, and Monroe Middle Schools, Bloomingdale, King, and Sickles High Schools
