Recognition of Students With Perfect Attendance From Kindergarten Through the Twelfth Grade With the Support of Suncoast Credit Union and Toyota of Tampa Bay (Chief of Schools)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Research has shown that school attendance, one of our key performance indicators, is the foundation of student achievement.  Deputy Superintendent Beth Shields initiated an annual attendance program to recognize students who have maintained perfect attendance from kindergarten through twelfth grade.  Our committed partners, Toyota of Tampa Bay and Suncoast Credit Union, will recognize ten seniors who have achieved perfect attendance for all thirteen years of school.  Those seniors will automatically receive a laptop and a key and will be entered in the final drawing to be held on June 11, 2019, for a Toyota Prius.  Toyota of Tampa Bay is hosting this event called "A Perfect Car for Perfect Attendance".

In addition, ten names of the 1,769 eligible seniors who have earned at least one year of perfect attendance in high school, will be randomly drawn to be entered into the final drawing.  The calculation for senior year attendance will only include the first three grading periods for the 2018/2019 school year.

On June 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., one lucky senior will be selected to win the free car.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
Donations from our partners made directly toward the perfect attendance event are provided at a value of approximately $1,000 per student.  Suncoast Credit Union presents a $500 scholarship and Toyota of Tampa Bay presents each student with a laptop. Approximately another $28,000 is provided in-kind by Toyota of Tampa Bay for the car donation and production of the event.
EVALUATION
At the end of each school year, the district conducts a search of the student database to determine seniors who qualify for the Perfect Attendance K-12 Award.
