The curriculum includes easy to teach classroom lessons that enhance student social-emotional competence by focusing on building SEL skills such as empathy and emotional management. This purchase will provide curriculum and bullying prevention kits to be used at 147 schools. As stated in our district's mental health plan, Student Services leadership will explore and purchase evidence based programs to be used when providing direct services to students. The Second Step curriculum has been implemented with kindergarten through grade 8 students at Project Prevent grant school sites throughout the duration of the grant. Participating site-based staff indicated a reduction in disciplinary concerns and an increase in social emotional intelligence of students receiving the curriculum. | |
