Approve Agreement for Educational Services with the City of Tampa for Firefighter Training by Aparicio-Levy Technical College, 2019/2020 (Workforce Connections) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
We request approval of the Agreement for Educational Services with the City of Tampa, Fire Rescue Department, to provide training to the City of Tampa firefighters and paramedics. This agreement is mutually beneficial for the continuation of necessary firefighter sciences training for the City of Tampa. | |

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No) | |
This item is included in the divisional general operating budget. The Firefighter 1 and 2 training programs generate Workforce Education funds. The City of Tampa will pay the district for student tuition, instructor salaries, and indirect costs. The maximum value of this agreement is $227,325. No additional cost will be incurred by the district. | |
EVALUATION | |
The evaluation will be based on an analysis of the number of instructor hours for firefighter training provided in the 2019/2020 fiscal year. During the 2017/2018 school year, 2,773 Fire Rescue employees were trained in the areas of firefighting and emergency medical procedures. During the 2018/2019 school year (as of May 10, 2019), 3,010 Fire Rescue employees were trained in the areas of firefighting and emergency medical procedures. | |
