Approve the 3-Year Purchase of Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum to Support the Prekindergarten Exceptional Student Education (PreK ESE) 3-Year Old Program from Teaching Strategies, LLC (Sole-Source Provider) (Academic Support and Federal Programs) (Revised Executive Summary and Attachment)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Florida Department of Education supports the use of research-based curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and is designed to introduce children to literacy, social, and numerous experiences that focus on teaching the whole child as well as enhances age-appropriate progress in attaining state-adopted performance standards.

The Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum materials have been reviewed through the Voluntary Prekindergarten Program Curriculum Approval Process.  Teaching Strategies will provide training to the 20 participating PreK ESE teachers to assist in the effective implementation of this curriculum.  

In accordance with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(12)(d), commodities or contractual services available only from a single source may be exempted from the competitive solicitation requirements. When a district school board believes that commodities or contractual services are available only from a single source as specified by the FLDOE, the district school board may negotiate on the best terms and conditions with the single source vendor.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds up to $350,000 will be included in the divisional revenue/federal programs budget, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Part B, Preschool.  For tracking purposes, the project numbers specific to this agenda item are 3508, 3708, and 3908.
EVALUATION
Participating teachers will complete a survey on the effectiveness of the curriculum.  Student progress will be monitored three times annually on the assessment, My Teaching Strategies - Teaching Strategies, LLC.
