SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Official Name Change of Lutz Elementary to Lutz K-8 School, Maniscalco Elementary to Maniscalco K-8 School, and Pizzo Elementary to Pizzo K-8 School (Chief of Schools)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
District staff recommended that Lutz Elementary, Maniscalco Elementary, and Pizzo Elementary convert to a grade K-8 school beginning August 2018. Implementation was begun by adding an additional grade level during the 2018/2019 school year. Continued implementation will occur by adding an additional grade level each year culminating in the 2020/2021 school year. It is the appropriate time to apply officially for a name change for Lutz Elementary to Lutz K-8 School, Maniscalco Elementary to Maniscalco K-8 School, and Pizzo Elementary to Pizzo K-8 School.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Continuously improve processes and systems • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health • Respond to competition
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
The conversion to a K-8 School will not have an immediate financial impact. Any future plant changes will come to the board for approval as separate agenda items and be incorporated into the District's Five Year Facilities Work Plan.
