SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Addendum to Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Hillsborough Community College (HCC) to Share Cost for a Career Pathways Coordinator (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On June 11, 2019, the Board approved the MOA with HCC to continue a grant-funded position entitled Career Pathways Coordinator, of which the costs will be shared equally between HCC and Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS).

Based on guidance provided by the Florida Department of Education, this Addendum is necessary to add specific language to the agreement related to the “Required Level of Services (Performance Standards)” and the “Remedies for Non-Performance.”

The Career Pathways Coordinator will work for both parties by coordinating the services and activities to encourage and assist students to participate in Career Pathways and take advantage of articulated college credit programs at HCPS high schools, Hillsborough Technical Colleges, and HCC workforce programs.

The Career Pathways Coordinator will report to both HCC’s Director of Associate in Science Programs and HCPS’s General Director, Career, Technical, and Adult Education and spend equivalent time working on location at both HCC and HCPS. Sharing the position allows the Career Pathways Coordinator to bridge the gap between HCPS Career and Technical Education course work, HCC’s Associate in Science, and certificate programs.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Contingent upon the approval of the Carl D. Perkins Secondary Grant, funds in the amount of $27,853.28 will be available in the Project 3728.
EVALUATION
This is a new initiative, and thus, there is no evaluation from prior years. In 2019/2020, this position will be evaluated by the number of students who are made aware of HCC’s opportunities by attending HCC Career Pathways activities, the number of HCPS students utilizing articulation agreements with HCC and the number of students who enroll in HCC’s Technical programs.
