SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Contract Renewal for Community Charter School of Excellence
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Charter legislation includes a provision for the renewal of a charter contract for those schools that have successfully completed their contract term. The district’s process for contract renewal consideration includes the submission of a letter of intent to renew the contract, a comprehensive program review, an update of the charter application, and the development of a new contract.
On July 28, 2015, the Board approved a one-year contract for Community Charter School of Excellence during which time the school was required to take specific actions to address concerns discovered during the 2015 contract renewal review process. District staff monitored the school monthly for progress and the school successfully addressed the concerns documented by the contract renewal review team. Subsequently, an annual review was conducted consistent with established procedures. A district review team assessed the school’s performance relevant to student achievement, finance, governance, administration, curriculum and instruction and assessment. Attached is a school profile (Attachment I) and a report of the review teams findings and recommendations (Attachment II). Staff recommends approval of a five-year contract for Community Charter School of Excellence (Attachment III). The application update, an original document, including a five-year budget submitted by Community Charter School of Excellence, is Appendix I of the contract and is available for review in the Charter Schools Office. |
