Approve Acceptance of Project for Hurricane Hardening at Two Sites (Erwin, McLane) (Operations Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida and the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management have been working together over the last several years to improve school facilities to serve the community as shelters in times of declared emergencies.  The State granted funds to the school district to retrofit McLane Middle School and Erwin Technical College; however, additional funds were required to complete construction.  The second modification to the State Grant No. 17SR-3D-08-39-03-384 increased the construction budget by $1,364,929 to a total amount of $1,843,173 and extended the original completion date from May 31, 2018, to June 30, 2019.  All other terms and conditions of the State grant remained the same.   District staff selected Renker, Eich, Parks Architects, Inc. from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design services.  On May 1, 2019, the Board awarded a contract for construction to R L Burns, Inc.

The design professional has certified that the work is now fully complete in accordance with the plans and specifications and other contract documents and recommends Board Acceptance.  Upon project acceptance from the Board, the State will concur with final payment.
