Athletic Contest Officials (Athletics Department)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In order to successfully run the athletics program, officials are a necessary expense for contests in all team sports.  This item is to inform the Board of approximate annual expenditures for officials used by the district through agreements with local officials organizations.  These officials are listed below.
  • Hillsborough County Volleyball Association (HCVOA) – provides officials for middle and high school varsity and junior varsity volleyball contests.
  • West Coast Officials Association, Incorporated (WCOA) – provides officials for middle and high school varsity and junior varsity football, basketball, and flag football contests.
  • West Coast Wrestling Officials, Incorporated (WCWO) – provides officials for high school varsity and junior varsity contests.
  • Florida West Coast High School Soccer Officials Association (FWCHSSOA) – provides officials for middle and high school contests.
  • West Coast Umpires Association (WCUA) – provides umpires for high school baseball contests.
  • Hillsborough County Umpires Association (HCUA) – provides umpires for high school softball contests.
  • Tampa Bay Lacrosse Officials Association (TBLOA) – provides lacrosse officials for high school boys lacrosse contests.
  • Tampa Women’s Lacrosse Officials, Incorporated (TWLO) – provides lacrosse officials for high school girls lacrosse contests.

• Develop a culture of respect, trust, collaboration and equity • Continuously improve processes and systems • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $468,237.00 will be available in the Athletic Department budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 6406. As of Thursday, August 1, 2019, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $468,237.00.
EVALUATION
Performance of each official is evaluated by the officials organization per each agreement.
