EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrated districtwide from September 15, 2019, through October 15, 2019, recognizes the valuable contributions Hispanic Americans and their ancestors have made to the growth, vitality, and culture of North America.  This observance honors all American citizens of Hispanic descent by celebrating their rich and vibrant traditions of faith, family, hard work, and patriotism. Our community has a long and significant history that has been shaped by the achievements of Hispanic Americans in business, law, politics, education, arts, science, and community service to name a few.  We are grateful and proud of the ongoing innumerable accomplishments, which have helped form our united, strong, and successful community and thriving nation.

Suggested activities are provided to school sites, as well as, specific lessons to all elementary, middle, and high school Spanish classes.  In addition, websites suggested for teachers and students are available to enrich offerings in the world language classroom.  During National Hispanic Heritage Month, we join with all Americans celebrating this rich and diverse culture and encourage all citizens to recognize the important role of Hispanics in creating and building this great nation.
