SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Amendment Two to the Agreement with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) to Continue and Expand Offerings of Aerospace-Related Dual-Enrollment Courses (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This Amendment Two to the Agreement with ERAU will continue the ERAU Aerospace Career Academy at Jefferson, Robinson, and Steinbrenner High Schools and expand our offerings to align with the Navy JROTC program at Tampa Bay Technical High School. The objective of these courses is to introduce high school students to collegiate and professional trade level study with a focus on professional aeronautical topics leading to both high school graduation credits and college credits for courses completed, as well as industry certification.

ERAU will provide both teacher training and curriculum materials to implement this program. Aerospace Career Academy courses will be taught by current and adjunct teachers approved by mutual agreement of ERAU and Hillsborough County Public Schools and who will be credentialed and qualified to teach under the criteria established by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $7,475 will be available in the Industry Certification budget. For tracking purposes, the projects specific to this agenda item are 4565 and 4527.  These funds are from weighted FTE funds earned by previous student achievement in Industry Certification testing. Students in these ERAU dual enrollment courses have the opportunity to achieve industry certification, which would generate funding to use to continue this program in future school years.
EVALUATION
In 2018/2019, there were 51 students enrolled in ERAU Dual Enrollment Courses such as Principles of Aeronautics and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) at three high schools. Students in this program earned 24 industry certifications in Small UAS Safety Certification.

Career and Technical Education Department staff will evaluate this agreement based on the number of students earning the dual-enrollment credit and industry certifications for the 2019/2020 school year.
