Approve the Memorandum of Agreement with the University of South Florida (USF) for Services Associated with the Implementation of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Promoting Adolescent Health Through School-Based Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Prevention Grant (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) was awarded a five-year, $1,800,000 grant funded by the CDC.  This agreement with USF will cover the first year of the project and provide a total of $47,326 in CDC grant funds for this period of the project.  The goal of the project is to build the capacity of HCPS to improve the health of middle and high school students by collecting and using quality surveillance data; strengthening HIV and sexually transmitted disease instruction and delivery; strengthening access to and use of key health services; and establishing and maintaining safe and supportive environments.

Funds in the amount of $47,326 will be available in the CDC grant budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3845. 
EVALUATION
Under the terms of the grant, HCPS is responsible for project evaluation.  HCPS will contract with an external third-party organization that conducts an independent evaluation.  HCPS personnel, USF project personnel, and key personnel from the Office of Strategy Management will work in collaboration with the external evaluator to provide the required reporting.   In year one of the project, over 1,900 high school students completed the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS).  The external evaluator will analyze the YRBS data which will be used to inform project activities over year two of the project.
