Recognize The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) to the School Board of Hillsborough County (Deputy Superintendent, Instructional) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) to the School Board of Hillsborough County was established in 1973 when the Florida Legislature passed a law mandating citizen participation. Although the law that mandated the CAC has sunset, the School Board of Hillsborough County realized the value of the services rendered by this organization and has elected to support its continuation. The purpose of this committee is to involve citizens in the challenge of public education. Members explore the operations of public schools, share concerns, and make recommendations to assist the School Board in its decisions for the improvement of our educational system. This committee operates in an advisory capacity and is not a policy-making group. The committee is made up of three citizens nominated by each Board Member from his/her geographic area. Senior high principals nominate 11th grade students from half of the high schools in the county. Nominees serve a two-year term. |
