EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Corwin contract is funded by the Instructional Leadership Faculty Development Grant through the Florida Department of Education. The grant provides districts with yearly funding to support the development of leaders so they are better able to improve instruction in their schools.

Memorial Middle School has made the commitment to become a Visible Learning Model School. Memorial spent last school year implementing the high impact strategies learned through Doug Fisher at Visible Learning for Literacy sessions offered for all Achievement School Leadership Teams. They then attended the summer Visible Learning conference and have since made a commitment to become a model school. The contract will provide the leadership team and staff at Memorial with continued professional development in the highest impact strategies to use in the classroom to advance student learning, all based on the work of Dr. John Hattie. They will start with Foundations Series Workshops for three days followed by Impact Series Workshops taking place throughout the school year. They will also receive Impact Coaching Workshops that will provide intensive training and support to a group of on-site teacher leaders called impact coaches. They will support effective changes throughout the school while also focusing on longer-term sustainability.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Recruit, support, and retain a highly effective and diverse workforce • Develop a culture of respect, trust, collaboration and equity • Continuously improve processes and systems
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $32,820 will be available in the Instructional Leadership Faculty Development Grant.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3730.  As of September 26, 2019, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $32,820.
EVALUATION
Schools that have implemented the model school approach have seen a minimum of 0.40 effect size shift in student achievement. They have also seen the following indicators across their school:  improved decision making based on evidence, a reignited passion and inspiration for teaching, adaptive experts who teach based on a clear understanding of what works best for raising student achievement in their classroom, students involved in all aspects of their learning, and students knowing their next steps for learning. Ka’imiloa Elementary in Hawaii is a Visible Learning School. The school was classified as a focus school meaning it needed to be turned around.  After receiving the ongoing professional development and support in Visible Learning, the school transformed into one where teacher clarity was evident, learning intentions were clear, and student achievement was improved. The school is no longer a focus school due to increases in student proficiency levels.
