Adoption of Proclamation - Feeding Minds, Nourishing Communities School Pantry Program (Chief of Schools) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Board acknowledges the increased need for students and their families to have access to healthy and nutritious foods beyond the school day. By expanding the Feeding Minds, Nourishing Communities School Pantry Program to a total of 28 schools in the 2019/2020 school year, the Feeding Tampa Bay partnership provides a greater opportunity for fewer students and families in our communities to experience chronic hunger. Good nutrition is critical to the wellbeing of the student, improves the learning environment, brings stability to the family, and creates a healthier community. Thorough the expansion of the Feeding Minds, Nourishing Communities School Pantry Program, and this publicly made proclamation, fewer children will experience chronic hunger, making learning a greater possibility. |
