Approve the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Between Feeding Tampa Bay and The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (Chief of Schools)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This MOA establishes the respective roles and responsibilities regarding the implementation and operation of the school-based feeding program called the Feeding Minds, Nourishing Communities School Pantry Program.  The purpose of this program is to help alleviate hunger through the provision of food targeted to families and their children.   These food pantries at 28 schools provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income individuals and families.  More than 185,000 individuals and more than 125,345 children experience hunger in Hillsborough County, many of whom rely upon food assistance from Feeding Tampa Bay through its network of partner agencies and direct distribution programs.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  No)
On average the cost to open and operate a school-based food pantry is $20,000.  At present, there is an investment of over $560,000 in goods and services to provide food to any student, family, or staff member in need.
