| Approve the Interlocal Agreement with Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) Head Start/Early Head Start Program for Participation as a Delegate in the Head Start Program (Academic Support and Federal Programs) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| We request approval of the Interlocal Agreement with the BOCC Head Start/Early Head Start Program and The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida, (HCPS) Head Start Program. The HCPS Head Start Program provides comprehensive services to 1,812 eligible children, ages 3 through 5, in 92 classrooms at 56 school sites. The term of the agreement is from October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2020, with an option to renew for four successive 1-year periods (Article 2, on page 2 of this Interlocal Agreement). School District Attorney, Jeff Gibson reviewed and approved this agreement on October 9, 2019. It is the practice of the BOCC to sign a negotiated contract/agreement after it has been signed by the School Board. |

| Funds amounting to $12,114,655 will be available in the Interlocal budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3702. These dollars consist of $11,995,378 in Head Start base funding and $119,277 for training and technical assistance. All funds expended are for the operation of the HCPS Head Start Program for services provided for eligible families. | |
| EVALUATION | |
| Financial statements are audited by the BOCC Head Start/Early Head Start, as prescribed by law. Federal funding for the HCPS Head Start Program flows through the Grantee, Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start. There is no district-generated revenue used for this program. |
