Adoption of Proclamation - Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Month, November 2019 (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In conjunction with the Hillsborough County Government and its elected County Commissioners, Hillsborough County Public Schools’ Division of Workforce Connections requests that The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida designates the month of November 2019 as JROTC Month.  Attached is the proclamation recognizing the observance of JROTC Month for November 2019. The JROTC Program emphasizes character development, academic achievement, wellness, leadership skills, and diversity.  It is a very successful cooperative effort on the part of the military Services and host educational institutions designed to produce successful students and productive citizens, while fostering a more constructive and disciplined learning environment. The month of November is particularly appropriate because of the many JROTC activities conducted in our local schools and communities in recognition of Veterans Day.  Those activities include JROTC planned and executed programs honoring Veterans Day in our local schools and communities; Color Guards to support numerous Veterans Day events; participation in Veterans Day parades throughout Hillsborough County; and visits to Veterans Homes and VA medical facilities.  These activities and more are conducted throughout the month of November 2019.
