SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Arts in Education (AIE) Program Expenditures from November 20, 2019, through June 30, 2020 (Office of Teaching and Learning)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The AIE Program provides equity and access for students by infusing and integrating arts experiences into the school day. Standards-based arts experiences and student instruction is delivered through performances, workshops, and residencies, via both in-school and field trip experiences.  Additional learning extensions are offered through teacher resource materials.

Arts integration strategies are used to seamlessly merge arts standards with core curricula to build connections and provide engaging content, resulting in students enthusiastically participating in the learning process.  Additionally, research shows that students who participate in the arts have an increased high school and college graduation rate and increased academic achievement.

If approved, this agenda item will provide for the planning, scheduling, and executing of Agreements for Technical Services in support of the district’s AIE Program. The attachment details the experiences that took place in the previous fiscal year.
