EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Chase Hartman, eighth grader at Farnell Middle School, is the co-founder of the Read.Repeat. Literacy Project, has provided through community book donations and cash awards over 100,000 books to children in our elementary schools who do not own their own books. Chase has been recognized by many of our community business agencies and literacy supporters among them are The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards where he received a $25,000 award which he received in Washington, D.C.; the Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero Award which he received on October 19, 2019, during the Lightning hockey game; and the Hillsborough County/International Literacy Association Celebrate Literacy Award. We are grateful for the dedicated leadership Chase has exhibited over the past three years as he and his project partner have collected, organized, delivered, and helped children at our elementary schools select books to take home. We are especially proud of his most recent selection by the Florida Commission on the Status of Women's Statewide Spirit of Community Award for "One to Watch" category for youth leaders under 24 years old. |
