Approve the Agreement for Technical Services #19225-ATS-IV with Workforce Development Partners Corp. to Launch and Maintain the Future Career Academy at 9 Schools (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Workforce Development Partners Corp. is an organization that provides services and support to launch and maintain the Future Career Academy at various high school sites around the school district. The Future Career Academy offers a full-year integrated approach in the classroom and in partnership with the community. Students receive curriculum in their classes, and participate in activities outside of school such as a business field trip and future fair. 

As part of this Agreement for Technical Services, the Workforce Development Partners Corp will plan and execute each Future Career Academy event and activity alongside school and district administrators, teachers and employers. 

In the 2019/2020 school year, Hillsborough County Public Schools has Future Career Academy programs in the following schools:
  • Armwood High School
  • Bloomingdale High School
  • Brandon High School
  • Durant High School
  • Lennard High School
  • Middleton High School
  • Plant City High School
  • Strawberry Crest High School
  • Simmons Career Center
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $30,000 are projected to be available from the Secondary Perkins Grant. For tracking purposes the project number specific to this agenda item is 3728. The Secondary Perkins Grant is applied for and approved on an annual basis.
EVALUATION
In 2019/2020, we will utilize a wide variety of metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the Future Career Academy program, including student enrollment, participation in activities, program self-evaluations and business partner engagement.
