SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Expenditures for LaunchCode Under the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) Florida Job Growth Grant (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On August 8, 2019, the Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) Workforce Connections Division was awarded the DEO Florida Jobs Growth Grant to contract with LaunchCode, for the delivery of software coding training that will take place at Brewster Technical College.  Under this grant, the software coding training is at no cost to adults within our community. The Florida Job Growth Grant Fund is an economic development program designed to build on Florida’s success and economic prosperity. Workforce training projects will provide Floridians with transferable, sustainable workforce skills applicable to many employers.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
If approved, it is estimated that $426,665 of the grant funds received by HCPS will be remitted to LaunchCode to cover all cost associated with training community adults at Brewster Technical College.
EVALUATION
The evaluation will be based on the number of student enrollees (Target 100) by January, 2021, and subsequently a minimum of 600 enrollees successfully completed and/or graduated from the program no later than January 31, 2030, ten years from the effective date.
