Approve Lease Renewal with Mission Hill Church for Classroom Space for Adult Education and Career Recruitment and Instruction in Basic English (CARIBE) Program for the 2020 Calendar Year. (Operations Division)

Adult Education Division has located classroom space for ESOL classes for CARIBE and Adult Education at the Mission Hill Church, formerly known as First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace, at 10002 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33614. This lease will be a continuation for the upcoming calendar year, 2020. The renewal lease will commence on January 31, 2020 and terminate on January 30, 2021. The space will consist of eight (8) classrooms and two (2) computer labs with an annual rent of $18,000.00 (monthly rental fee is $1,500.00), with all utilities included. The new lease fee has increased by $150.24 to factor in janitorial supplies.

The facility will be used for approximately 200 adult learners enrolled through Adult Education and CARIBE for instruction in the English language serving immigrants, recent refugees and political asylees. The location has proven to be ideal for recruiting and retaining the targeted immigrant and refugee population.       

Funds in the amount of $18,000.00 will be available in 490-6300-360. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 9050. As of Tuesday, January 30, 2020, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item will equal $0.00.
