SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the First Amendment to the Legal Services Agreement Between The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida and MacFarlane, Ferguson & McMullen, P.A. (MFM) (Business Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On June 11, 2019, the Board approved the agreement between The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida and MFM for legal services, counsel, consultation, and advice for the Superintendent and staff.  At this time, approval is needed to amend the agreement to add the Firm's representation on change of placement matters.  The rate for the work completed by attorneys shall be $225 per hour.  All other rights and obligations of the parties under the legal services agreement remain in full force and effect.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Annual expenditures for change of placement legal services are estimated to be $50,000. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 4492. As of January 13, 2020, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $470,025.
EVALUATION
Annually, a survey is sent to the Superintendent's cabinet for their evaluation on MFM's services with the district.  Last year, the comments were overall positive and professional.  The survey will be repeated this summer during the annual renewal.
