Acknowledge the American Heart Association's (AHA) Commitment to Heart Health and Wellness Initiatives Throughout the District (Chief of Schools) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The AHA has continually grown in membership and support as a result of the school district and board leadership. All dollars raised help with the discovery of new treatments through research, legislative advocacy for our communities, student physical education, nutrition/wellness programs, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training courses for middle and high school students. Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) has been recognized nationally for their innovative practices that aid the AHA mission of ending heart disease and stroke, getting kids active and healthy, as well as fostering a culture of service-learning. Most recently, the AHA promoted a districtwide anti-vaping campaign. During the 2018/2019 school year, HCPS has exceeded expectations and benefited in the following ways:

The AHA provides monthly reports that include: wellness/health data, school participation, service-learning commitments, and goal progress data. | |
