Korey Collins has been one of three language arts teachers at RCA for the past four years.  RCA is a highly-acclaimed, non-profit middle school in southeast Atlanta that has received both national and international recognition for its success in educating high minority, low-socio-economic students with academic rigor, passion, and creativity. Student learning is measured using the Standard Achievement Test.  In 2017, the percentage of students scoring above the national average increased from 78.3 percent to 97.2 percent in reading.

In the past 9 years, more than 38,000 superintendents, district level administrators, and teachers from 42 states and 22 countries have participated in the RCA experience to learn better ways to engage students, promote academic rigor, and create a climate and culture that promotes success.

Evaluation of the impact of the workshop will be through teacher feedback, and implementation of learned skills and strategies through observations during classroom walk-throughs.
