SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Grant Applications to be Submitted Between March 11, 2020, and July 31, 2021, by the Workforce Connections Division and Accept all Grant Funds Generated Through Awarded Grant Applications During that Time Period (Workforce Connections)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Florida Department of Education Division of Career and Adult Education requires school districts to submit proposals in a consolidated format for annual entitlement grants.  Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) Workforce Connections Division is requesting approval to submit for and receive the following grants (2019/2020 award amounts included): Federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Secondary Grant ($2,635,401 - Project 3728); Federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Postsecondary Grant ($519,169 - Project 3751); Adult General Education, English Literacy and Civics Education and Family Literacy Grant ($1,854,706 - Project 3724); Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) Grant ($395,713 - Project 3773); National Farmworkers Career Development Program Grant ($308,605 - Project 3772); 

In addition, we are requesting approval to apply for and receive the Career Recruitment and Instruction in Basic English (CARIBE) Grant ($747,560 - Project 3721), which is funded through the Florida Department of Children and Families as an agent on behalf of the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement; the Tampa Bay Citizenship Program Grant ($33,584 - Project 3741) federally funded by the Department of Homeland Security through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service; as well as Quick Response Training Grants ($727,650 in different projects), which are applied for through Enterprise Florida.  Florida's Quick Response Training Grant is a partnership among CareerSource Florida, the requesting company and HCPS, which serves as a fiscal agent.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Based on past performance, it is estimated that grant funds received by HCPS through the efforts of the Workforce Connections Division will be approximately $7,222,388. These funds will be available in the district’s divisional special revenue/federal programs budget for 2020/2021.
EVALUATION
Project Directors are responsible for reporting progress in meeting performance targets to funding agencies.
