<p>Approve the Addendum to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Lightning Foundation, Inc. to continue Multiple Educational Programs <em>(Community Engagement, Philanthropy and Outreach)</em></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
<p>The Community Hockey Department (CHD) of the Tampa Bay Lightning has been an active partner in developing unique opportunities for our students and families.&nbsp; On June 14, 2016, agenda item C6.23, the School Board of Hillsborough County, approved a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Lightning Foundation, Inc. to implement multiple educational partnerships.&nbsp; The attached addendum will allow the continuation of the following five programs: GUIDE the Thunder; Build the Thunder; Lightning Made Clinics; Hockey by the Numbers, and Score with Reading, all supporting the development and understanding of the fundamental aspect of hockey, increasing student achievement, and fostering teamwork skills.&nbsp; Research has shown that working as a team to reach a common goal helps children develop communication and problem solving skills that will benefit them on the field and in the classroom.</p>
