Approve Amended Contract Between the State of Florida, Department of Juvenile Justice and the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (Student Services Division)
The State of Florida, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is contracting with the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida, (HCPS) to support the use of a prevention program known as Justice Works Youth Care, FL.  By accepting this contract, HCPS will receive $400,000 from DJJ and will, in turn, use these funds to contract with Justice Works Youth Care, FL, to provide effective diversion and intervention programs, as well as activities to prevent juvenile delinquency. The program targets the needs of delinquent youth by providing services in truancy prevention, behavior modification and support, family engagement, and transition support. The program is designed to allow Justice Works Youth Care behavior counselors to work collaboratively with HCPS alternative school staff to support student needs at the North Tampa and Brandon Alternative School sites. In an effort to provide greater adherence to program integrity and fidelity, this amendment includes a revision to billable service unit structures resulting in more individualized and intensive intervention delivery.  This amended agreement will be effective December 7, 2016, through June 31, 2017. 

The State of Florida, Department of Juvenile Justice requires The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida to be the first signature on contracts.

• Improve the high school graduation rate • Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Develop a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration • Engage and communicate with families and stakeholders • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety: student, employee, visitor, facility, transportation, and health
Funds received from this contract with DJJ will be placed in project number 3106, Special Revenue Fund.  The $400,000 appropriation will be used to fund the contract between HCPS and Justice Works Youth Care, FL, for the 2016/2017 school year.
Program services for Justice Works Youth Care, FL are evaluated at least twice a year. The joint management team will review outcome data monthly, quarterly and annually on all clients served. Input will also be solicited from participating schools’ administrators.
