Approve the Purchase of Amsco's Preparing for the American College Test (ACT) English, Reading & Writing and Preparing for the New Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT): Evidence-Based Reading and Writing Student Edition from Perfection Learning (Office of Teaching and Learning) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Preparing for the New SAT: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing materials will be implemented in the junior Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) retake course and the Amsco's Preparing for the ACT English, Reading & Writing preparation materials will be implemented in the senior FSA retake reading course. These courses, including class sets and licenses, are designed to provide the necessary skills for our students in grades 11-12 who have not met the reading graduation benchmark either through a passing score on the FSA or a concordant score on the SAT or ACT. During the 2015/2016 school year, the SAT and the ACT assessments were revised to meet current college and career readiness expectations. With the update in both assessments, we need to update our curriculum and the materials utilized to support our students' success in meeting graduation requirements.
This purchase is exempt from competitive solicitation as per the Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 Purchasing Policies (11)(b) which states the requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for commodities or contractual services from three or more sources is hereby waived as authorized by Section 1010.04(4)(a), F.S., for the purchase by district school boards of educational services and any type of copyrighted materials including the publisher. |
