Approve the Annual Agreement of Understanding with the Community Based Training (CBT) Sites for Students with Disabilities [Accentia Health and Rehab Center of Tampa Bay and Palm Garden of Tampa] for 2016/2017 (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval for the Agreements of Understanding with the CBT sites, Accentia Health and Rehab Center of Tampa Bay and Palm Garden of Tampa, to provide valuable training experiences for qualifying students with disabilities. Upon receipt of training in entry-level positions at a variety of businesses in the community, participating students are better prepared to successfully enter the workforce. During the 2016/2017 school year, under this 1-year Agreement of Understanding, an estimated number of 24 students with disabilities will receive training opportunities.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Provide a student-centered learning environment that engages every child • Establish a strong foundation of financial stewardship
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $75,000 will be available in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), for transporting students to and from the business sites in 2016/2017. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3131.
EVALUATION
CBT Business Partnership Evaluations were completed by 2 participating sites for 2015/2016. The participating businesses rated students on their performance based on the following criteria:

  • Students perform assigned tasks
  • Students follow company policies/rules
  • Students display appropriate behavior
  • Students display independence
  • Students display appropriate dress/hygiene
  • Overall program effectiveness

During the 2015/2016 school year, the ratings from the above criteria produced the following positive outcomes:

  • 94 percent of the students were rated above average in the 6 areas previously listed
  • 6 percent of the students were rated satisfactory in the 6 areas

Businesses involved will be given quarterly evaluations for completion. Final evaluations to be concluded by June 30, 2017.
